Great Jones Spa
About
A spa inside a 156-year-old landmarked building, renovated phase by phase with almost no interruption to a seven-day-a-week operation.
Great Jones Spa occupies a store-and-loft building at 29 Great Jones Street in NoHo, constructed in 1868–70 and now a contributing structure within the NoHo Historic District Extension. The spa itself opened in 2004 and has operated in the space for over two decades. Atlas Supreme has partnered with the owner-operator across an ongoing, multi-year relationship in which the scope of work has grown significantly with each completed phase — from an initial gut renovation to a full sequence of front-of-house and back-of-house transformations.
The defining constraint of the project is that the spa operates seven days a week with no dark days. The initial phase — the men’s locker room gut renovation — required the spa to close for part of that phase. Every phase since — new lobby entrance, a full epoxy floor pour from the entrance through the ramp, a landmarks-reviewed storefront, treatment room updates, a new waiting lounge, and the current buildout of a new women’s locker room and steam room — has been completed while the spa remained fully open to guests, requiring careful phasing, containment, and coordination with ownership at every step.
